T. Rowe Price Institutional Small-Cap Stock Fund (TRSSX) Research
The T. Rowe Price Institutional Small-Cap Stock Fund is primarily dedicated to investing in small-capitalization companies, allocating a minimum of 80% of its total net assets (including any capital acquired through borrowing for investment purposes) to their stock. The fund manager defines a "small company" based on its market value: a company qualifies if its market capitalization falls within or below the current range of firms included in either the Russell 2000® Index or the S&P SmallCap 600 Index. Alternatively, it also qualifies if its market value is lower than the three-year average of the highest market capitalization of companies within those indices, determined as of December 31 for the three preceding years. While the portfolio predominantly consists of common shares of U.S. companies, the fund retains the flexibility to invest in international equities to meet its investment objectives.
