SDI Group plc, a company established in 2007 and based in Cambridge, United Kingdom (operating under its current name since November 2019, previously Scientific Digital Imaging plc), specializes in the creation and supply of scientific and technological instrumentation. Their core focus lies in products built upon digital imaging principles, serving customers across the UK, continental Europe, the United States, Asia, and other international markets. The company's operations are structured into two main divisions: Digital Imaging and Sensors & Control. The Digital Imaging segment provides a range of specialized camera systems. These include highly sensitive cameras branded Atik Camera, designed for industrial and life science uses; Opus Instruments cameras tailored for art conservation; and Quantum Scientific Imaging cameras, which find applications in astronomy and various life science disciplines. Under its Sensors & Control division, SDI Group delivers a wide array of solutions. This encompasses precision re-circulating chillers, coolers, and heat exchangers crafted to manage thermal environments effectively, alongside chemical dosing and control systems essential for manufacturing industries. The company also offers both standard and bespoke electrochemical sensors for water-based scenarios under the Sentek brand. Furthermore, it supplies automated systems and software, such as G:BOX and NuGenius, for fluorescence/chemiluminescence imaging of DNA and proteins in gels. This segment also features automated and manual systems for a variety of microbiological testing applications, including ProtoCOL 3, a critical tool for pharmaceutical companies engaged in vaccine and antibiotic development, and AutoCOL, which develops and produces automated equipment for colony counting and zone sizing. Beyond these primary segments, SDI Group provides solutions for clean air and cooling, offers metalwork services to commercial and industrial clients, and supplies a selection of temperature-controlled products like ovens and incubators. Their expertise extends to the engineering, manufacturing, and calibration of instruments for measuring pressure, vacuum, and gas flow, as well as flowmeters and control instrumentation. Additionally, they produce precision micropattern products and offer water purification systems, including the Cyclon Water Still, along with Gallenkamp vacuum ovens.
