Additionally, Reata collaborates with AbbVie Inc. to jointly research, develop, and commercialize second- and later-generation Nrf2 activators for all indications excluding renal, cardiovascular, and metabolic applications. Originally incorporated in 2002 as Reata Discovery, Inc., the company officially became Reata Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in May 2005. It is headquartered in Plano, Texas.
