This fund primarily allocates at least 80% of its assets to municipal bonds originating from New York. The interest earnings from these bonds are typically not subject to regular federal or New York state income taxes. The fund has the discretion to invest an unrestricted amount in "private activity" municipal bonds, whose interest might be designated as a tax-preference item for federal Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) calculations.
