Additionally, through FiberCore Systems, Inc., the company provided design, installation, and maintenance services for optical fiber, wide area, and even non-fiber optic networks, particularly within the Northeast U.S., catering to local area network (LAN) requirements for institutions such as hospitals, universities, government agencies, and commercial entities. Its range of optical fiber products was sold under trademarks including InfoGlas®, EconoGrade®, and ValuGrade®. FiberCore contended with notable industry competitors like Corning, Inc., Furukawa/OFS, Alcatel, Draka, Samsung, and Sumitomo. The company ultimately faced severe financial challenges, filing for Chapter 11 reorganization on November 14, 2003, which subsequently transitioned to a Chapter 7 liquidation on October 6, 2004.
