Under typical market conditions, the fund dedicates a minimum of 80% of its net assets, including any borrowed funds for investment, to equity securities. These investments primarily target mid- and small-capitalization companies that BlackRock Fund Advisors (BFA) believes possess above-average potential for earnings growth. The fund may also acquire shares of companies through initial public offerings (IPOs). Up to 25% of its total assets can be invested in securities of foreign companies, which includes those located in emerging markets.
