The Renewable Energy Group focuses on generating assets, with Algonquin owning facilities boasting a gross capacity of approximately 2.0 gigawatts (GW) and holding investments in other generating assets contributing about 0.3 GW of net capacity. This segment is responsible for producing and marketing electrical energy, capacity, ancillary products, and renewable energy attributes from its diverse portfolio of clean power generation sites. These facilities encompass hydroelectric, wind, solar, renewable natural gas, and thermal technologies. By the close of 2023, the combined net generating capacity attributed to the Renewable Energy Group stood at approximately 2.7 GW.
